Bolswards Tribute Newspaper has some breaking sportnews: Sprintje bergop has just ended season 24. Looking at the beginning of the season the manager made some clear goals.
One of the goals was to get a 2nd captain. Manager Petsoc said: "The expectations of Trond Johannesen were high, maybe too high. He has improved a lot, but he will not be a real captain. He said to me: "Manager, I think I'm not a real leader of a team. I want to make the team better, stronger but not as a captain. Let me be a great team mate." But we are very happy with him in the team and he earned some important points. Now we are training Pascal van Hoeyvelt. We will see were his max is."
Another goal was to expand the team. Manager Petsoc again: "We spend a lot of money in training Trond and Pascal. That's why we couldn't buy more riders. We see the need of a financial fairplay. And because we choose not to expand the team, the goal to ride more races is not achieved also. But it is a consequence of the choices we have made."
To win more races as in season 23 didn't work out. In his comment manager Petsoc said that season 24 was a much better season. "There was only 1 victorie (East Egg Race by Olaf van Damme), but there were as many as 11 other results. One of those results was a 7th GC in the Monte Rosa Tour, also by Olaf van Damme. That tour was one of the highlights in season 24."
The last goals (earn over 850 points and smell division 2) were achieved both. At the end of the season Sprintje bergop had 920 points and were ranked 2nd in 3 division C. So we think it will be a matter of time before Sprintje bergop will join 2 - division.
